Law students get to grips with
Two delegations of Ajman University’s Law Department visit Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC)
Dubai, UAE: The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), a Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry initiative, received two delegations comprising of students of the Ajman University Law Department recently to familiarize them with the functioning of the Center.
Dr Hussam Talhuni, Director, DIAC, gave a presentation to the groups on DIAC’s vision and mission, its organizational structure and services on offer including administrating the arbitration process, advising parties on drafting their conciliation and arbitration agreements as well as raising awareness of mediation amongst local, regional and international commercial circles by organizing training seminars, conferences and open dialogues.
Talking about the importance of Arbitration to international commercial relations, Dr Talhuni said: “As every modern society seeks to meet the needs of a wider market and to integrate fully into the international commercial community, arbitration has become a reality at the heart of global commercial relations.”
DIAC’s motive behind hosting the visit is to raise awareness about arbitration and to strengthen the student’s bond with the society while transferring the Center’s vision to the next generation and also to prepare them to take up arbitration as a full-time profession after the completion of their law degrees.
